At The Legacy Untold, we believe the best way to design a journey is to experience it ourselves first. Our team of passionate travelers has once again ventured far and wide this year, exploring new corners of the globe to uncover hidden gems and extraordinary adventures. From intimate cultural immersions to once-in-a-lifetime expeditions, we’ve personally vetted each experience we offer. This year, our travels took us on thrilling safaris, through ancient cities, up towering mountains, and to pristine coastlines. Each journey was a reminder of the transformative power of travel—its ability to connect us to the world, its people, and its wild places in ways that are both awe-inspiring and deeply meaningful. We’re excited to share these stories with you and offer you the chance to embark on your own unforgettable adventures.
Mark & The Legacy Untold planned a once-in-a-lifetime ‘Friendmoon’ for 35 friends at the exclusive Singita Sasakwa—where breathtaking game drives, sunrise hot air balloon rides, fireside ceremonies, and unforgettable moments under starry Serengeti skies made for the ultimate celebration of love, friendship, and adventure.
Where ancient monasteries cling to cliffs, emerald valleys meet snow-capped peaks, and a deep sense of serenity awaits in one of the world’s last untouched kingdoms. Alfresco breakfast spreads with panoramic mountain views, guided meditations, traditional hot stone baths, hiking the iconic Tiger’s Nest, getting fitted for a Bhutanese Gho, dedicating a prayer flag to a loved one—every moment in Bhutan feels sacred, transformative, and unforgettable.
Mark just returned from an extraordinary journey through this tiny Himalayan kingdom and writes all about it in Travel + Leisure.
The Legacy Untold hosted its annual We Are Africa Closing Party this year in the STUNNING Obsidian by In-Residence. A 5-leveled granite & glass-designed masterpiece, set high up in Clifton on the slopes of Lion’s Head, with stunning views of the 12 Apostles and the Atlantic Ocean. Let us show you a different side of Cape Town…
Amidst the crumbling ruins of the ancient amphitheater of Taormina (built in 300 BC) and against the monumental silhouette of smoldering and spewing Mount Etna, a 3-day dazzling wedding took place…
Rest your head at lavish riads once occupied by kings where private indoor courtyards feature swimming pools, flawlessly manicured gardens (some of which are up-kept by a team of 200!), and indulgent hammams…romance oozes across this spellbinding country, to which Mark has now been 12 times!
Luxurious suites perched high among 100-foot-tall trees, where the air hums with birdsong, open-air dining on stunning stretches of endless white sands, a spa sanctuary hidden beneath a canopy of ancient Higuera trees within a natural volcanic rock garden, and the grounding magic of a traditional Mayan Temazcal… Just ask Mark—he’s experienced it all.
From the sun-drenched charm of Borgo Egnazia to celebrating life & love under ancient olive trees with crystal-clear Mediterranean waters just a stone’s throw away…
From cooking over open flames beside turquoise waterfalls to magical sunset cruises on the Mekong River, Laos offers an increasingly rare, off-the-beaten-path charm. Ancient temples, untouched landscapes, and the echo of monks chanting at sunrise… Luang Prabang is a destination that captures the heart and quiets the soul.
Where gondola rides lead to glacial peaks, traditional Swiss fondue is savored amidst breathtaking Alpine beauty, and the Six Senses Crans-Montana sets the standard for luxury, seamlessly blending inspired design, holistic wellness, and sustainability.
A 20-year peak in solar activity known as solar maximum fell during 2024, marking this past year as a prime time to see the aurora borealis, or northern lights. In January Polly, our Chief Experience Officer, took a trip to the frozen forests of northern Finland for snowmobiling, dog sledding, relaxing in a Finnish sauna surrounded by snow, visiting a Sami family and their reindeer, and yes – aurora viewing!
In the spring, our Chief Experience Officer, Polly, went to South Africa for a second time, to scout more of a country that is so popular with our community of travelers. “I got to spend several days exploring Sabi Sands Game Reserve, one of the best places in Southern Africa for a Big Five safari, visiting many of our favorite luxury lodges. At the end of the trip I spent a few days in the Cape Winelands and I’m still thinking about the meals I had at Babylonstoren and La Petite Colombe.”
When our CMO honeymooned in Japan, she ventured off the beaten path… to sip cocktail omakase in tucked-away bars, unwind at traditional ryokans nestled within towering emerald forests, and journey across three tiny islands to uncover an extraordinary secret temple – built from a son’s devotion and surrounded by working fruit orchards and cherry blossoms in early bloom.
This small South American nation situated directly on the equator is one of the most biodiverse in the world and one where you are never far from yet another completely unique landscape, as Watson from our Experience Design Team discovered this November. Mysterious cloud forests high in the Andes, brooding jungles deep in the Amazon Rainforest, imposing peaks scattered through Volcano Alley, and of course the crown jewel of the Galápagos Islands – a conservation success story as one of the most protected ecosystems on Earth, home to thousands (and counting) endemic species.
