THE BEST OF PERU

ADVENTURE, HISTORY AND EXCLUSIVITY

If you want a diverse travel experience with world class adventure, culture, history, cuisine, and luxury hotels, Peru should be next on your list. It’s a country where hip contemporary culture seamlessly meets ancient history. Peru is a design lover’s dream, with drool-worthy decor in the gorgeous hotels that will likely inspire some shopping at the many colorful markets. For outdoor adventure enthusiasts, Peru has everything you can imagine including surfing, paragliding, white water rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, and trekking. If you didn’t already know, Peru is also a top destination for foodies and consistently included on lists of the best chefs and restaurants in the world.

Some of our favorite bespoke experiences in Peru include exploring mysterious archeological wonders with an expert guide, including Peru’s prime jewel Machu Picchu as well as the mysterious circular terraces of Moray, the salt pans of Maras, the ruins at Ollantaytambo. We love sending our travelers to join a luxurious expedition on the Amazon River to see the impossibly remote, perfectly pristine ecosystem that is home to endemic species like the mystical pink river dolphin and three-toed sloth. Further off the beaten track in Peru, you can visit the floating villages and preserved cultural traditions of Lake Titicaca (the highest navigable body of water in the world), hike photogenic Rainbow Mountain, spot Andean condors at Colca Canyon, and get lost on the colonial cobblestone streets of Cusco and Arequipa.

WHY TRAVEL TO PERU WITH THE LEGACY UNTOLD?

Beyond the well-worn tourist track there are infinite possibilities for experiences in Peru that would be impossible to arrange on your own, like a private gastronomy tour with a Peruvian chef that includes a five-course meal at a favorite restaurant with locals in Lima, weaving lessons with indigenous women living in an Andean community at 12,000 feet, or a private shamanic ceremonial offering to Mother Earth. We design every trip to perfectly align with your taste and interests and make the most of your time in Peru whether it’s your first time or your fifth. We have visited every luxury property and will hand select the best fit for you. Our network of guides are also the most knowledgeable and passionate in the country.

PLANNING YOUR TRIP TO PERU

WHEN TO GO

The best time to visit Machu Picchu is during the dry season from May to October, especially if you’re planning to trek the Inca Trail. Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail are wettest from December through March, and the Inca Trail actually closes in February. Shoulder seasons (November and April) are still a good time to go, when it’s a bit less crowded.

There are two seasons in the Amazon – the high water season from December to May, and the low water season from June to November. Water levels can change as much as 23 ft, so the activities are different according to the season, however it is still a year-round destination.

GETTING THERE

There are direct flights to Lima from many cities in the U.S. including New York and Los Angeles, among others. Lima is the connecting city to the Amazon, Cusco, Arequipa and elsewhere.
