LUXURY ADVENTURE TRAVEL IN ECUADOR

Ecuador is relatively tiny, yet its boundless beauty and diversity in experiences surely rival its neighbors. It’s impossible to mention Ecuador without paying homage to Charles Darwin, whose discoveries in the Galapagos Islands altered the course of human understanding of evolution. This far-flung archipelago feels lost in time, and the islands are home to dozens of otherworldly and prehistoric-looking species that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. On Mainland Ecuador, the mist in the thick cloud forests of the Andes gives way to reveal massive crater lakes and breathtaking volcanic peaks. And although more of the Amazon rainforest sprawls through Peru, Brazil and Colombia, half of Ecuador is made up of large swaths of unspoiled jungle just waiting to be explored.

IN ECUADOR

In Ecuador the best hotels, lodges and vessels are authentic, atmospheric, and one of a kind. Some of our favorites include a former Inca fortress with volcano views, a 4,000 acre colonial farm with a 60-horse stable, and a super yacht with a hot tub on deck.

PLANNING YOUR TRIP

WHEN TO GO

In the Galapagos there really is no off season. Located on top of the equator, the region has a subtropical climate and sits in one of the Pacific’s dry zones, so it never gets too hot or humid. In terms of seeing wildlife, most of the species in the Galapagos do not migrate so you can see them year round. July to September can be a bit wetter than the rest of the year, but this is also a great time for diving.

Mainland Ecuador including the Amazon, Andes and cloud forests sees visitors year round, with a drier seasons from June to September in the highlands. Throughout the country – including in the Galapagos – weather can change at a moment’s notice and it’s best to pack for every possible scenario from warm and dry to cool and wet, and everything in between. Each season in Ecuador has its own unique benefits.

GETTING THERE

International flights arrive into Quito or Guayaquil where you can catch an onward flight to the Galapagos to begin your departure by sea or your land-based adventure. Galapagos vessels do not depart from mainland Ecuador. Once you embark itineraries typically range from 4-14 nights at sea and can be combined with a few nights on land. We can easily arrange private yachts and buyouts for families and other small groups.
