The Client

Global Citizen

Global Citizen (GC) is an international organization that seeks to end extreme poverty. Their concerts have featured some of the most iconic names in the history of music, including Bono, Stevie Wonder and Beyoncé. Top world leaders in attendance have included the President of France, the Prime Minister of Canada, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. Over the past 10 years, $43.6 billion in commitments announced on Global Citizen platforms has been deployed, impacting nearly 1.3 billion lives. Global Citizen Festival, Ghana took place in Accra, on September 24, 2022.

Good Morning America

Good Morning America (GMA) is the most watched morning show in the United States. GMA is anchored by Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan, and has hosted prominent guests including Celine Dion, Audrey Hepburn, Hillary Clinton, Meryl Streep, Johnny Cash, Adele, Serena Williams, and Tiger Woods.

 

The Task

The task was two-fold: (1) to develop and promote VIP travel design and experiences for Global Citizen Festival, Ghana, attracting attendance and donations and, (2) to coordinate all logistics on the ground for one week of filming and live broadcast across Ghana for Good Morning America (with 15 days notice).

 

The Legacy

The Legacy Untold secured 27 prominent business owners and CEO’s including Tatler, Chopard, McKinsey & Company, and Dominion International Petroleum for Global Citizen Festival in Accra, Ghana. The Legacy Untold also designed a 5-day immersion for these VIP’s around Global Citizen Festival including special meals cooked and hosted by Accra’s best chefs, private tours of galleries by Ghana’s best artists, special private performances by Ghana’s best musicians, and immersions with a vast array of Accra’s best creatives that define the cultural fabric of Ghana.

The Legacy Untold facilitated Good Morning America’s participation and coverage of the festival, and coordinated all travel and filming needs for a team of 26. We scouted the best locations for filming, obtained special permits for shooting (including drones),secured iconic locations for broadcast, attained top African talent to be interviewed on camera with the GMA team, provided creative B Roll footage, sourced high-speed internet feeds and generator backup for live broadcast, and facilitated customs clearance of 150 cases of film equipment.

The 2022 Global Citizen Festivals that took place in Accra and New York culminated in over $2.4 billion in commitments to end extreme poverty. The festivals had a combined attendance of 80,000 people and the lineups included performances by Mariah Carey, Usher, Metallica, Angélique Kidjo, and SZA.
